SA artists share 2020 plans
Entertainers look back at 2019 and share their new year resolutions
IT’S BEEN a roller-coaster year for many of our celebrities. So with the year ending the ENTERTAINMENT team spoke to celebrities about their New Year’s Eve plans and 2020 resolutions.
TBO TOUCH
The entrepreneur and entertainer said he would spend the morning with family, and later drive down to Kwazulu-natal for his gigs.
“I will be out in Empangeni and end the night at Fact Durban Rocks,” he said.
He said 2019 will be remembered for his new car, buying land and launching his own alcohol brand, “48 Gin”.

“This New Year’s, I have no plans! I’m going to go with the flow. If my family decides to do a braai, I will be there.
Or if my friends decide to go out – I will tag along! Honestly, NYE is my least fav day to celebrate!” said the radio and TV presenter.
On her 2020 resolutions, she had this to say: “I want to say yes to new opportunities.

The veteran actress says, as 2019 draws to a close... it is only fair and opportune to reflect on the year that has come and gone.
“Unfortunately at a personal and professional level 2019 has been one of the lowest, if not darkest points.
“After over two decades in the arts industry and having made certain observations over this period I ventured to shine a light on the everyday experience of actors in this country.
“My open letter received unprecedented circulation in the public space with on occasion rave reviews.”
Ndara says her 2020 resolutions are to continue to seek selfdetermination and her self-definition as opposed to being defined by the universe.
“Going into 2020 I resolve to remain true to myself and my inner beliefs.
“At the same time, acting is my first love, I shall continue to engage openly and meaningfully if that helps to redefine our existence in this industry,” says Ndara.
Adding, “on the 31st of December, therefore, I have little to celebrate suffice to continue my journey of self-discovery and being true to the values that were instilled in us by our parents”.

KHANYI MBAU
The TV personality is keeping her festive plans pretty simple this year.
The Red Room actress says she will be spending time with her 13-yearold daughter, Khanukani.
“I get so busy during the year with shooting for TV and other stuff, so this is my time with her. We are going to be in Johannesburg most of the time.
“This past year has not been that great, so we’re going to be based at home and having fun and keeping ourselves busy within Johannesburg,” said Mbau. | Alyssia

The entertainer and reality TV star had a stellar year, one which ended with her launching her perfume brands. For 2020, she said that she wants to cut down on spending, friends and wishes she could stop drinking alcohol. “I want to cut down on spending too much money; I am cutting down on friends who are not beneficial to me. I wish to stop drinking alcohol or to at least cut down on how much I drink. I will exercise more next year and be fully active at the gym. Hopefully it comes true and I stick to it.”
For New Year’s Eve, she will be in Bloemfontein. “I’ll be celebrating my year-end in Bloemfontein at The Zone.” | Nontando Mposo
CASSPER NYOVEST
The rapper will be hard at work this festive season. The Move For Me singer said he has bookings daily until January 4. On Christmas Day he had three performances and for New Year’s Eve he will be playing at six events.
Recently he thrilled 40 000 fans at his #Filluproyalbafokengstadium concert.
The evening saw a blend of young, up-and-coming artists and some heavyweights like Shekhinah, Emtee, Black Motion, Major Leagues DJS, Nadia Nakai and Boity.
“In the new year I plan to take a break. I am still deciding where to go with my family. It may be an overseas holiday,” said the rapper.

ZOLANI MAHOLA
The vocalist wraps up her 17 years with Freshlyground on New Year’s Eve. Her last concert with the group is at Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden.
The singer says she is looking forward to a swim in the ocean on New Year’s Day after her last gig with the band. Mahola’s New Year’s resolutions include letting go of others’ opinions.
“I resolve to let go of the habit of letting other people’s opinions of me guide my responses, feelings and actions,” she said. | Orielle Berry

The R&B singer said: “Other than a show I’m doing on New Year’s Eve, I plan on going to Kinky Summer.
“As for my 2020 resolutions, I plan to climb more mountains, meditate more and just have fun!” |

The singer and Idols SA judge is wrapping up her mega 2019 with her family.
“I will be spending time with my children and family in Johannesburg on New Year’s Eve,” she said. “We are going to have a family gathering with three generations of my family. I think that is an anointed and very special way to usher in the New Year,” she said.
As for 2020, the I Keep Learning author has a busy year ahead.
To start the new decade, she will release a single called I See You with Rabs Vhafuwi with an accompanying music video at the end of next month.
She will continue her book tour of the country, including readings in Durban and will also film season 16 of Idols SA and launch a “huge” campaign. | Clinton Moodley
