Bar these useless soapies from TV

- | PRAVESH JAINARAIN Woodhaven

WE ARE being bombarded by soapies in the South African television arena that are inconsequential and lack value.

It is evident that most of the actors can do just that, act. They are not natural performers. Their facial expressions and body language are good for stage performances but certainly not television.

Where did one ever hear a child

being referred to as “sweetie” on television or any celluloid for public consumption, as was the case in Imbewu?

I wanted to see what value the programme had. I switched to pay TV after the first minute.

Isidingo, Scandal, Imbewu, Isipho

and the list goes on need to be consigned to the scrap heap for the casts are forever acting and not performing.

The so-called celebrity status has gone to their heads.

None of them can hold a candle to the cast from Gebroke Harte.

When they reach a stage of sensibility and quality performance, as is the case of the Turkish productions, they should be let loose – but only after being vetted by independent assessors.

Please refrain from writing about so-called celebrities in the Sunday Tribune as they hold no value in our lives. Their whims and fancies are meaningless.
