Q: Is it okay to chant Om Namah Shivaya?

A: Om Namah Shivaya is one of the most popular and powerful Hindu mantras and the most important mantra in Shaivism.

Namah Shivaya means “I bow down to Shiva, O salutations to the auspicious one!”, or “adoration to Lord Shiva”, or “universal consciousness is one”. It is called Shiva Panchakshara or simply Panchakshara, meaning the “fivesyllable” mantra, and is dedicated to Lord Shiva. Na, Ma, Shi, Va, Ya – these five letters indicate the five major elements, Earth, Water, Fire, Air and Ether (sky). Om is the sound of the universe. Om means peace and love.

There are no rituals or ceremonies involved with this mantra… just the simple chant. This means that it can basically be performed anywhere.

The most important aspects are that you have an attentive mind and you are sitting upright. You could practise on a chair, or even in a plane or car. From there, just repeating the mantra over and over again becomes the focus. But as the mantra is repeated, visualise yourself bowing to your true inner self.

It’s said that regular practise of this mantra will bring you very close to the divine inner nature within all of us. The spiritual and material benefits of chanting this mantra are unlimited.

Keep chanting this mantra in full faith and devotion.

Q: My son turned 21 this year. He was retrenched in 2018. Since then he has been unable to find employment anywhere despite sending his CV to many places. He is at home and has become very withdrawn and unenthusiastic. Please help.

A: He is still in a rough phase and his luck has not risen yet. I still foresee obstacles to him getting a job. After the age of 23 I can see he will be in a good job, and then after the age of 25 he will have a satisfying job.

Q: I have recently been dreaming about death, funeral gatherings and sometimes weddings. Does it mean anything? This is happening often, at times I am terrified to sleep.

A: Read the

before you go to bed and play spiritual music at home for a few hours a day to radiate positive energy, especially in your bedroom.

Astrologically, your planet rahu is unfavourable for you until September 8, 2020. Rahu is considered a shadow planet in vedic astrology. When it is unfavourable, it instils fear and people experience restless sleep. Due to the current situation this planet has become more influential. This is the root cause of your current problem.

When you have to go out, maintain social distance and use a mask. Try to avoid unnecessary outings. The current eclipses increase fear and anxiety as per your birth chart. Whenever the eclipse is visible in your city, try not to see it, if possible. Make a conscious effort not to go out during that time. Rahu will transit at the end of September in the star sign Taurus. Then you will receive relief.

Donate a dark brown T-shirt or shirt to any poor person on a Saturday. Before donating the shirt you should wear it to bed for a night. This small remedy can help to minimise the malefic effect of rahu. What your dreams mean:

1. Dreams of one who has passed away usually means that they are not restful in their current situation. It is suggested that someone who dreams of a loved one who passed on should perform a ritual or donate to charity in their name.

2. If one dreams they are in their best attire, like at a wedding, it is usually a warning sign that they may fall ill. It is best to increase physical strength when this occurs.

3. Dreaming of funeral indicates that you are anxious and have too much fear.
