Deepika tests positive for Covid-19
BOLLYWOOD star Deepika Padukone has reportedly tested positive for Covid-19.
While an official confirmation is awaited, the International Indian Film Academy Awards (IIFA) tweeted this week: “#Deepikapadukone has tested positive for Covid-19. Get well soon, Deepika!”
Confirming the news, entertainment industry tracker Ramesh Bala tweeted: “Actress @deepikapadukone tests positive for #Covid. Wishing her a speedy recovery.”
Padukone is currently in Bangalore with her family.
This week her father, badminton icon Prakash Padukone, was admitted to hospital because of a high fever.
The actress’s mother, Ujjala Padukone, and younger sister Anisha have also tested positive for Covid.
Deepika Padukone has many high-profile films lined up for the next months.
She will be seen opposite husband Ranveer Singh in 83, based on India’s first cricket World Cup win in 1983. While Singh plays the team’s captain Kapil Dev, Padukone essays Dev’s wife Romi.
She also stars in a yet-to-be-titled film with Amitabh Bachchan and Prabhas, and in Shakun Batra’s next film, also untitled, with Ananya Panday and Siddhant Chaturvedi.
Padukone will also team up with Big B in The Intern, while Fighter casts her opposite Hrithik Roshan.
