A COLLEAGUE has a dream to sell up his home and take to a house on wheels to travel our country, working as a digital nomad.

I feel bad because I popped his dream by saying how awful the lifestyle was in reality, and that the glamorous shots we see on Instagram are not the true reality of what it is like.

That was before I read this story alongside, where this amazing family has converted an old bus into a home on wheels.

Yes, of course, there are pros and cons, but isn’t it amazing how people around the world, and here, are finding ways to successfully try an alternative way of life – blazing a trail for us to follow.

I am blown away by their innovation and creativity, and how people always make a plan. Whether this means multigenerational living, downsizing to a smaller spot, renting out a room or even a parking spot to make some extra cash, and yes, finding an alternative to the bricks-and-mortar lifestyle.

Some people are certainly choosing a life on wheels, and some on water, with much success.

So to my colleague, Lance Witten, forgive my initial scepticism. I guess that is a knee-jerk reaction that is faced by many who look at alternative ways of life. Go ahead and continue to dream big. See you on the road one day!

Meanwhile, as we are flung into our third wave, and many reading this – including friends and family – are affected or afflicted by this pandemic, we send love and strength to you.

Please take care of yourselves.
