Miss SA Lalela Mswane wins another crown
SOUTH Africa’s golden girl, Miss SA, Lalela Mswane, left fans and viewers in awe on Friday when she breezed through the Supranational Pageant to be crowned Miss Supranational 2022.
The 24-year-old Kwazulu-natal-born beauty queen became the first black woman to win the title.
Mswane competed against contestants from 69 countries in the pageant hosted at the Strzelecki Park Amphitheatre in Nowy Sacz, Poland.
Speaking to the Sunday Tribune about her victory, Mswane said that she was grateful.
“Gratitude is the general feeling. I am very proud and I think it reiterates the message that we should truly assert ourselves in spaces where we feel like and desire. We should be unafraid to go boldly in the direction of our dreams.
“So I feel really affirmed for myself and for so many other people that have had dreams that seemed unattainable and I just stand here today a living testament of how things do happen and can work in your favour,” she said.
Mswane’s goals as Miss Supranational are to advance the objectives of the organisation and to continue striving to be inspirational and aspirational, which align with the values of the organisation.
She said her focus would still be focused on unemployment, entrepreneurship and providing an empowerment platform, and that with the organisation’s assistance, her goals and plans would materialise.
She called on young girls who wish to see themselves succeed to stay strong through difficult periods and stick to their convictions and beliefs.
Mswane was crowned second runner-up at the Miss Universe 2021 in December.
