Matchmaking for marital bliss SOUL JOURNEY

- With MAHESH BANG

Q: Namaste, Mahesh, can you do a compatibility test for me and also advise me on what we should look for in wedding cards? | RM

A: According to the Hindu way of life, marriage is a sacred union between the man and woman. Before marriage, the man and woman are considered incomplete.

Only after marriage are their lives complete. Both are assigned responsibilities to make marriage succeed.

Therefore, many families compare the horoscopes of the prospective bride and groom to encure that they have marital bliss.

It is said that “marriages are made in heaven and celebrated on Earth”.

It is nice to do compatibility tests when a relationship is young or when you are doubtful about your decision. But it’s ethical to get consent from both parties to do this test. So, I am unable to do your test as you didn’t provide me your partner’s birth details and consent.

How a marital test works:

In astrology, marital compatibility is based on eight parameters – these carry 36 marks (also called gunas or points). 1. Varna refers to ego development and

2. Vashya refers to the intensity of mutual attraction and also dominance. It carries two marks.

3. Tara (three marks) for financial status and destiny.

4. Yoni (four marks) for bedroom chemistry and mentality.

5. Maitri (five marks) for goals in life, intelligence, spirituality and friendliness.

6. Gana (six marks) for temperament.

7. Bhakut (seven marks) for family welfare and love.

8. Nadi (eight marks) for health.

When the two horoscopes are compared, a minimum of 18 marks is necessary for a match to be declared compatible. The more the marks scored, the better the outlook.

1. Between 18 and 20 marks is considered an average match.

2. Between 21 to 23 marks is a good match.

3. Between 24 to 28 is a very good match.

4. Above 28 is an excellent match, but it is rare and generally you don’t see couples getting this score.

Important:

there are seven auspicious dates in the year to get married. If someone marries on these days then they will get two more points. To do a compatibility test, we need an exact time of birth beside the date and place of birth, according to Vedic astrology.

If the time of birth is not exact, then the prediction of compatibility between boy and girl can vary to such a great extent that an hour makes all the difference on the decision astrologically, for example at 2pm (time of birth) can be “yes” and 3pm can be “no”. In a compatibility test, time of birth is important.

In more than 90% of cases, these horoscope matchings are of great help in finding a suitable partner if you are confused about whether your partner is the one for you or not.

I hope the above test helps you in making your decision as per Vedic astrological perspective.

However, it is recommended for couples in general to consider all other realistic factors prior to marriage.

In addition to your compatibility test, you need to work together in making your marriage a success.

Make your wedding cards more auspicious:

1. The card must have a picture of Lord Ganesha, and any Ganesha mantra.

2. It must have a swastika and Aum sign.

3. It may also have a small picture of a banana plant (in a pair) and Kalash as a design or any other auspicious symbol or figure, according to Hinduism.

4. The card must be one of the following colours: red, yellow, sindoor, orange, pink, cream or beige.

5. The first invitation must be addressed to Lord Ganesha and offered at the prayer place or the temple of Lord Ganesha.

6. The second invitation must be addressed to your favourite deity.

7. The first guest invitation must be written (name of person to invite) on a Wednesday, which falls between the new moon and full moon or any other auspicious day, according to Hinduism.

8. While writing the name on the wedding card, you must face east. It is best to use red ink. If it is printed by computer, still stick on the card while facing east.

9. The number of cards printed for the wedding should be an odd number and ending in 1. For example (21, 51, 101, 111, 121, 151, 201…)

10. If it is an e-card only, then visit the Lord Ganesha temple (any temple where Lord Ganesha is situated) and narrate your card. Thereafter you can send e-cards to your friends and family.
