HULA THULA Private Game Reserve offers guests an authentic safari experience in the heart of Zululand.
Combining the best of the African bushveld in a uniquely atmospheric setting, guests of the reserve have a choice of lodging in either the Elephant Safari Lodge or the Luxury Tented Camp, both of which offer magnificent bush vistas and delicious cuisine, as well as their own swimming pools, bomas and guest lounges.
The 4 500 hectares of malaria-free bushveld allows guests the opportunity to game and bird watch, either on guided bush walks or on twice-daily game drives.
Wildlife on the reserve includes giraffe, zebra, a wide diversity of plains game, rhino and the original herd of elephants on which former owner Lawrence Anthony’s best-selling book, The Elephant Whisperer, is based.
Birdlife is also prolific and the vast array of fauna and flora will delight nature lovers, young and old.
Originally developed by conservationist Anthony, the reserve today is a sanctuary for his much-loved breeding elephant herd, which he rescued and rehabilitated in 1999.
His conservation work is continued on the reserve through the Thula Thula Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre.
