Making light of problems to lift levels of levity

- KARINDA JAGMOHAN

THE “Day Zero – Water Shortage Comedy Tour” is not just to make Durbanites laugh.

It’s also for four Cape Town comedians to be able to take more than just a 90 second shower each day as they tour the country!

Funny men, Dalin Oliver, Kagiso Mokgadi, Carl Weber and Yaaseen Barnes, all born and bred in the Western Cape, will bring the ensemble show to Durban later this month.

The group came up with the “Day Zero Tour” when Cape Town was hit by critical water shortages this year.

“The excuse for having the show was for us to travel around the country and be able to take a shower for more than two minutes,” Barnes said.

The group are from different regions of the

Cape and represent various demographics to bring the audience unique South African comedy – comedy that unites people, Barnes said.

“Durban people love to laugh. Whether they get the joke or not, they still laugh and it’s great to see stand-up comedy being appreciated and supported.”

The 90-minute show takes place for three nights only in Durban – on August 31 at Gateway Hotel, September

1 at Butlers Restaurant in Hillcrest, and September 2 at Point Yacht Club on Victoria Embankment.

Ticket prices range from R100 to R150 at various venues, available through Computicket and Quicket, where more information is available.
