SARIKA DEEPRAJ, a credit risk administrator and Leeshaan Mekraju, sales manager from Southgate in Phoenix, both 25, married on June 9 at Simbithi Eco Estate in Ballito.

HOW WE MET

Leeshaan and I met at a friends’ party in Phoenix two years’ ago. A week later we went on our first date. It was a Hindi movie at Gateway.

THE PROPOSAL AND WEDDING

Leeshaan proposed at a secluded spot at Saffron Restaurant in Coastlands Umhlanga on March 31 last year. He had a cake made with a sign asking “will you marry me”? He went down on one knee and proposed. I burst into tears and said yes. We had a Christian ceremony.

BIGGEST CHALLENGE

Everything was a challenge but I think our biggest was having to cut down the guest list to 150.
