‘Others killed on plantation’

WHILE Campbell has passed away, Naidoo said the group sought acknowledg­ement for a relative or extended company to assume liability.

On Wednesday, the Asijiki group gathered with old Mount Edgecombe sugar barracks residents to pay tribute on the 105th death anniversar­y of Guruvadu’s murder. The group is also hoping the inquest will give rise to further inquests regarding the murders of others on the plantation.

“There are restless souls in those plantation­s. Their tongues were cut off 105 years ago, but today we are their voices for justice.

“We demand responsibi­lity, accountabi­lity, atonement and redress from the beneficiar­ies of these people’s deaths and abuse,” said Naidoo.
