Land issue cracks nod from Parliament despite warnings
PARLIAMENT has adopted the report on the expropriation of land without compensation after the ANC’S majority ensured the report got the nod from MPS.
A total of 209 MPS voted in favour of the expropriation of land without compensation and 91 MPS against.
But other opposition parties rejected the report and warned that this was setting South Africa on a dangerous path.
The DA, Freedom Front Plus, the African Christian Democratic Party and Cope said approving the report would harm the economy and chase away international investors.
The EFF said the land question had to be resolved and it was time to do so.
ANC MP Madipoane Mothapo said the government must fast-track the process.
