Facebook launches fact-checking in UK

-

LONDON: Facebook has entered into a partnership with independent charity Full Fact to launch its factchecking operation in Britain, a media report said.

As part of the partnership, Full Fact will review and rate the accuracy of content on the social network,

The Guardian reported on Friday.

The team of fact-checkers at Full Fact will be able to review images, videos and links posted on Facebook and mark false content as such.

As a result, people might know beforehand if a post they are about to share on Facebook was found to be false. But Facebook would not stop users from sharing or reading false content, The Guardian report said. Facebook started partnering with third-party fact-checkers in December 2016, in the wake of the US elections which saw disinformation spreading across the platform, the Wired reported. |
