Could JZ be the new front man for Ladysmith Black Mambazo?

-

LADYSMITH Black Mambazo is making a grave error in judgement teaming up with a man who brought the country to its knees. Former president Jacob Zuma is regarded as a pariah. Anyone who associates with him will also blacken their name.

ethekwini’s decision to use ratepayers’ money to record Zuma’s Struggle songs has come under attack from the public and opposition.

Ladysmith Black Mambazo’s leader, Joseph Shabalala, has defended his decision to record with Zuma. He knows Zuma from the Struggle days and thinks there’s nothing morally wrong with teaming up with him.

Of course, we could be wrong. Zuma’s got talent. Though the septuagenarian bellows like an old ox, he has the stamina of a young bull. So what if Ladysmith Black Mambazo thinks it a wise move to add a new dimension to their repertoire by making him their front man?

Would he rival Mick Jagger and have crowds in New York, London and Paris flocking to see the new singing sensation electrify the stage with his energetic dance moves? THYAGARAJ MARKANDAN Silverglen
