...AND OUT WITH THE GLAD RAGS

- MDUDUZI DLAMINI

THE South African Music Awards (Sama), which take place tonight and tomorrow night at Sun City, Pilanesburg, North-west, traditionally affords top fashion designers a chance to display their talents by dressing A-list celebs and serial socialites, who add vital salt to any worthwhile shindig.

Ordinarily, the Samas serve up a smorgasbord of fashion elegance, from muted conservative to leading-edge and outlandishly ridiculous.

David Tlale and Ephraim Molingiana (Ephymol), both among the country s leading designers, are

’ dressing a number of celebs.

So will new kid on the block, Sandy Mashaba, founder of Fabrosanz, which s launched a new collection last Saturday at a fabulous solo fashion-show at club Hush, Rosebank.

Tlale will settle been-around-the- block celebs when he dresses musician Judith Sephuma, known for her conservative taste.

Sephuma will wear a taupe-coloured, long-mermaid body-hugging dress with long sleeves and brass embellishments.

Outrageous choreographer and TV personality Somizi Mhlongo will, oddly, go for reserved black.

Ditto Azania Ndoro, radio anchor host, who will go for navvy blue and yellow, perhaps in keeping with the sexy corporate look she s been displaying of late. ’ Molingoana, known for his fastidiousness and exquisite men s

’ garments, gave his celebs clothing for all events occurring around the Samas in Sun City, Pilanesburg, North-west from tomorrow to Monday.

All my celebrities were person“ally selected. I ve chosen from my

’ collection to suit their personalities and events,” he says.

He is dressing Generations Zolisa Xaluva in royal dark-blue with 1970s retro prints and Thato Molamu in black pants and a white, suave dinner jacket, with an alternative of grey, patterned pants. He s also dress

’ ing Selimathunzi anchor Lunga Shabalala in a suave grey jacket, a beautiful classic white shirt and royal-blue pants with a lemon shirt.

Koyo Bala will also revel in Molingoana s

’ next summer collection.

Mashaba has lined up DJ Zinhle for a black puffy-shoulder detail number and socialite Joyce Omphemetse Molamu for a cream, open-back sequined mini-dress both

– fashion ambassadors of her label Fabrosanz. She s also dolling up digital

’ media editor Hulisani Ravele, the vivacious former long-serving anchor with SABC 2 s YO-TV,

’ who s also the ambassador of

’ the fashion label.

Mashaba also kitted out models Aldecia Molautsi and Poppy Molamu, sister of Joyce. Molautsi will be clothed in a blue-beaded mash frock while Poppy settled for a black-boob tube number. I m going as “’ well. I ll be dressed in

’ a silver-gathered dress with detail,” says Mashaba.

As the event returns to its traditional home in Sun City, we can t wait to see

’ which celeb or socialite will stand out and which ones

– will commit unforgivable fashion faux-pas.
