MZANSI’s “IT” girl Bonang Matheba was allegedly beaten black and blue by her tearaway boyfriend DJ Euphonik in a nocturnal love squabble on Tuesday.

Sunday World can reveal that Matheba obtained a protection order against Euphonik, real name Themba Nkosi, at Randburg Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday and has since dumped the muso.

The sultry Live presenter has also opened a case of assault against the 5FM DJ.

Euphonik was to be arrested on Friday after Matheba submitted a medical report to the police, but apparently they hadn’t yet done so by the time we went to press last night.

Matheba ’ s publicist Simphiwe Majola confirms that Matheba approached the court and made an application.

Matheba caught the eye of our moles when she appeared at the court hidden behind her dark sunglasses on Wednesday morning.

She was joined by her lawyer Bongani Khoza, who waltzed with her into the domestic violence office, where they filled out the protection order form and then left.

Khoza says: “We confirm that Matheba indeed approached a court and made an application. The matter is pending before a court of law and is thus sub judice.

“While we realise and appreciate the fact that Matheba is a media personality we put emphasis on the point that the matter is a personal matter and as such we demand that Matheba’s privacy be respected.”

Sources who caught a glimpse of the indictment say Matheba claims she paid Euphonik a visit at his Westdene crib in Jozi on Tuesday night.

An argument erupted between the two lovebirds. Matheba stormed out of the house and left without closing the main gate behind her.

The ebullient Euphonik then tailed her to her upscale apartment in Hyde Park. He found the door to her house locked and allegedly gained entry through a window.

“He then asked her why she did not close the gate to his house. She told him she was too lazy to close it,” says the source.

Taxed beyond endurance, Euphonik allegedly unleashed a barrage of warm klaps on her. It is alleged he started kicking her like a football.

Matheba, who is also a DJ at YFM, was rescued by neighbours who heard her screams.

Sunday World can reveal that Queen B, as she is known in showbizz circles, shot a 3rd Degree programme on Friday heavily plastered with make-up to hide the blue eye.

“She lost a lot of money as she had to cancel some of her midweek shows as a result of the beatings.

“This man has been abusing her for a while but she was scared to go public because she thought she would upset her sponsors,” says the source.

The A-list couple are not new to controversy. They have been at each other’s throats over accusations and counter-accusations of cheating.

Last year Euphonik was heartbroken when he received information that the ice-queen was melting in the warm hands of Kaizer Chiefs midfield dynamo Simphiwe Tshabalala.

A few weeks later we published a story that Matheba was heartbroken after discovering that a Durban woman was gravid with Euphonik’s child.

But Euphonik denied making the woman pregnant.

Pressed for comment over the latest incident, Euphonik says:

“I don’t know what you’re talking about. ”

And Sunday World yesterday received a letter from the DJ’s lawyers threatening legal action against Sunday World if the story was published.

“Should you proceed to publish defamatory and/or false statements, our client reserves his rights to take appropriate action against you..., ” read the letter in part.
