AN unprecedented legal case is unfolding in the northern suburbs of Joburg.

Randburg magistrate Debbie Vial has ordered a wealthy suga mommy to compensate her ex toy-boy R7 000 under the Domestic Violence Act, stating that R2 000 had to be paid towards his man s medical care.

The man has also lodged a maintenance claim for R19 000 a month that will be heard this week. This is a landmark case because by law only a married partner can claim maintenance.

The couple is not married but has been in a relationship for eight years. They have no kids.

The woman laid countercharges of domestic violence in February. She applied for a protection order, claiming her ex-lover had assaulted her following a confrontation about his alleged cheating.

Marcelo Alves Moraes (39) slapped his monied ex Laurene Less (47) with the papgeld claim on the grounds that she accustomed him to the good life. He is unemployed. The two separated after claims and counter-claims of infidelity, physical abuse, extortion, deception, claims of DVDs of sex sessions and drug abuse.

The toy-boy says his ex has a duty to support him as stipulated in a contract they signed on June 1 2004, in which both stated that their relationship was intended to be permanent and would exclude any other person.

Less says in court papers that they broke it off in February after she discovered he had been secretly providing his pregnant lover with food and lodging in the servant s quarters of their home while their domestic worker was on holiday.

This was when he assaulted me. He pinned me down with his elbow to my throat,” she says in court papers. He has physically ... and psychologically abused me. He is currently blackmailing me and brought DVDS to my work to threaten me.

He said he was going to harm me and I fear for my life.”

Less, who has faced the humiliation of being thrown in the holding cells more than twice for allegedly violating a protection order obtained against her, this week remained tight-lipped out of fear of jeopardising ongoing court proceedings.

I am worried that if I comment on the matter it will impact on me negatively. Ive suffered terrible injustices but can t say anything since the matter is before the court,” she says.

Their relationship began in 2004 and she acquired two businesses for him in Mozambique.

In court papers she says she also bought clothes for him to sell as a means of income.

Despite efforts to support him financially and assist him in becoming financially productive, he neglected to make any contribution to the common household,” she continues.
