BLAME MOTSEPE!

That’ll be a dumb move

- Fuse Tinyiko Mashaba Musina Katekani Bright Mbowane e-mail

AFTER analysing Bafana Bafana I have reached the conclusion that mining tycoon Patrice Motsepe has turned our football into an auction and it is killing our Bafana.

I will give examples of good players who disappeared after joining his club, Mamelodi Sundowns, which has had a negative effect on Bafana.

Innocent Mdledle and Sbusiso Khumalo are quality left backs but they are sitting in the stands because Sundowns signed Punch Masenamela and Tebogo Langermann.

Bafana’s No 1 forward Katlego Mphela is playing second fiddle to Zimbabwean Nyasha Mushekwi at Sundowns but is expected to excel in the Bafana jersey.

Former Bafana player Richard Henyekane can’t even make it as a substitute and now Sundowns want to sign goal-getter Edward Manqele from Free State Stars

– and he will be a number three choice striker for Sundowns.

Then are we going to expect him to be selected for Bafana?

How can former national under-23 skipper Ramahlwe Mphahlele be selected when he is sitting in the stands? When he was playing for Swallows he was indeed Bafana material.

Sundowns also want Kennedy Mweene, 2012 Africa Cup of Nations goalkeeper of the tournament and Zambia’s No1. And what will happen to Wayen Sandilands, their No 2 Bafana keeper? He will lose his Bafana position.

Ask Calvin Marlin. He was Bafana’s No1 keeper while playing for SuperSport United. Then he joined Downs and now he is Downs’ No 3 goalkeeper.

Lastly, they want to sign Eric Mathoho a Bafana player. What will happen to Siyanda Xulu? He will sit on the bench and his Bafana career will be over. Good prospects disappear after joining Downs.

Money is killing SA football – a player would rather earn R150 000 a month and sit on the bench than play for Bafana. SENIOR ANC MP Vicent Smith, who chairs parliament correctional service committee, has suggested that parliament be relocated to Pretoria.

He argues that government will save billions of rands a year that is now spent on transporting officials to and accommodating them in Cape Town.

But relocating parliament to Pretoria will cost the government billions more than they spend now.

To avoid unnecessary cost, government should build flats next to the parliament for officials travelling to Cape Town to avoid booking them into expensive hotels.
