HOME sweet home!

Former Bafana Bafana skipper Aaron “Mbazo” Mokoena is coming back home to become a student.

Mokoena will play club football in the Premier Soccer League next season with BidVest Wits.

The veteran defender is leaving his financially troubled English club Portsmouth for Wits, who are seeking to challenge for the championship next season.

The 31-year-old is the most capped South African footballer, with 107 caps. Mokoena had been sought by clubs in China and Qatar but opted for Wits.

“Teboho (Mokoena) will be playing for Wits in the new season. They have agreed terms with him and he is happy to be back home,” said a source close to the negotiations.

Portsmouth were relegated from the English Championship at the end of last season to the English League One.

Mokoena is the second high-profile player to join Wits during the off season after Matthew Pattison.

The Clever Boys are also expected to sign former Under-23 right-back Tlou Molekwane from Kaizer Chiefs.

Mokoena left SA just over 10 years ago to join Dutch giants Ajax Amsterdam from Jomo Cosmos.

He played for Bayer Leverkusen and Germinal Beerschot in Germany, Genk in Belgium and Blackburn Rovers before joining Portsmouth.

Ex-Bafana midfielder Siyabonga Nkosi has returned to Chiefs on a two-year deal from Lomontville Golden Arrows. He played for Amakhosi in 2006 before joining German club Arminia Bielefeld.

The deal was confirmed by Chiefs GM Bobby Motaung. Motaung also said the club had not given up on its R5m offer for talented Bloemfontein Celtic defender Mulomowandau Mathoho.

Mamelodi Sundowns are chasing the signatures of the Zambian duo of Christopher Katongo and Rainford Kalaba.

Downs official Trott Moloto and GM Kenneth Makhanya returned from Congo on Tuesday where they discussed the possible transfer of Kalaba with his club TP Mazembe.

Whereas Kalaba has been courted by the Brazilians for months now, the interest in Katongo has been kept under wraps for fear of arousing interest in the Zambian skipper from local rivals. Katongo is currently on the books of Chinese club Henan Construction FC.

Kalaba hugely impressed at the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations early this year. The team will be releas

“ing players including Innocent Mdledle, Ramahlwe Mphahlele, Papi Zothwane and Richard Henyekane to accommodate new recruits,” said a source.

Orlando Pirates are negotiating with Swedish side Helsingborg to buy striker Tokelo Rantie outright.

SuperSport United striker Kermit Erasmus is wanted by Helsingborg. Erasmus is also on the wanted list of Pirates, who have already signed Khethowakhe Masuku from Black Leopards and the Free State Stars duo of Manti Moholo and Ayanda Gxaba.

Banyana Banyana beat Zambia 2-1 in the return leg of their African Women’s Championship (AWC) qualifier at the KaNyamazane Stadium in Nelspruit yesterday to qualify for the finals in Equatorial Guinea in November.

Portia Modise opened the scoring in the 19th minute. But Zambia were allowed back into the game as Mwila Bowa equalised just two minutes later.

Modise scored again from the restart, making it 2-1. The SA senior national women’s side won the first leg 4-1 two weeks ago.
