- KHETHIWE CHELEMU

SOCIALITE and radio and TV personality Bonang Matheba and her popular DJ ex-boyfriend Euphonik have reached an out-of-court settlement following their highly publicised domestic abuse fallout in May.

The charges of assault against the 5FM and club DJ, real name Themba Nkosi, were withdrawn in the Randburg Magistrate s Court on Fri

’ day after Matheba s

’ withdrawal statement was handed to the court.

Magistrate Vincent Pienaar took less than two minutes to wrap things up. Matheba was not present.

In her statement asking for the charges to be withdrawn, she stated: The matter will be “resolved privately. There is no need to prosecute this matter further.”

The bubbly presenter stated that she hadn t

’ made her statement under duress. I have not been “forced or intimidated to withdraw this matter in any way, either by the accused or by someone else,” she said. Matheba further stated that she was satisfied with the investigations of the case so far.

Matheba, who is known as Queen B, lodged criminal and domestic violence cases against Nkosi after he allegedly assaulted her on May 28.

Nkosi had allegedly broken a window of her Sandton apartment, pulled her to the floor and assaulted her by pulling her hair and hitting her in the face with a cellphone. She had allegedly angered Nkosi by failing to close the gate behind her when she left his Westdene, Joburg home.

She sustained injuries to her upper left eye and a swollen lower lip.

Barely three months after the assault, Matheba and Nkosi were engaged in settlement negotiations through their lawyers.
