Wedding season for the Frasers

-

NOKUTHULA NXUMALO IT LOOKS like wedding season for singer Deborah Fraser ’ s family this year as her son, Selwyn Fraser, gears up to take one of her mother ’ s backing vocalists as his wife.

Selwyn will get married to sweet-voiced Nomcebo Nkwanyana in a ceremony whose details are still kept under wraps.

A friend of the couple tells Sunday World that at first, Fraser was upset about the relationship between the two but later warmed up to the idea when she realised her son was serious about it.

Selwyn then sent a delegation to the Nkwanyanas last month to kick-start lobola negotiations and register his intentions to be their son-in-law.

A family friend says Fraser is now so happy that she has decided to put her own wedding plans to Soul Brothers member David Masondo on hold.

According

to the

friend, Fraser has also given one of her houses, nestled in the eastern Joburg suburb of Bez Valley, to the couple. She also bought them the wedding rings as a gift.

Fraser says she gives his son and wife all her blessings and can ’ t wait to raise her grandchildren.

“As the family, we have welcomed Nomcebo with warm hearts. And the good thing is that I have known her for a very long time as we ’ ve been working together. As much as we don ’ t have the date yet, it will be soon,” says an elated Fraser.

“What makes me proud is that they did not rush into things that will make us unhappy as parents but they decided to get married first.”

Nkwanyana also works with Zahara, among other artists.

She did not want to comment on the wedding plans, only saying that she is in love.

Selwyn could not be reached for comment.
