Put citizens first

- Trevor Madikoto Polokwane

Open letter to ANC secretarygeneral Gwede Mantashe:

THE ANC election manifesto has been released and though some are saying there is nothing new, it does give hope to the majority of people who are waiting for a better life.

I suppose it is now up to us to vote the ANC back into power to see implementation.

I must mention, though, that it was very disappointing that no mention was made of the muchanticipated academic hospital for Limpopo.

However, there is something mentioned in the manifesto that the ANC can and should start acting on immediately, and that is corruption.

Show us that corruption will not be tolerated by taking action against public servants who are charged and found guilty of corruption. Anyone who commits a crime should know there are consequences.

Furthermore, implement the public protector’s recommendations and relieve Tina JoematPettersson of her duties.

In fact, such officials should not be allowed to serve on any structure of the ANC, such as the national executive committee.

Most importantly, when the public protector releases her report on Nkandla, stern action must be taken against all implicated persons.

The ANC must be seen as intolerant to corruption even though it will mean taking what may seem unpopular decisions. The ANC must put the citizens of the country first and the interests of the ANC above the interests of any individual or group.
