UMHLOBOWenene FM news reader Zodwa Nogilana has confessed to being behind a Facebook page campaigning for the return of actress Vatiswa Ndara on .

Nogilana has now apologised to Ndara for being the mastermind behind the social media campaign, which Sunday World reported on last week.

The Facebook page called for the former Metro FM news reader to be recast as Mamfundisi in the new version of the soapie.

I feel horrible that Vatiswa has been dragged into something she didn t do and was not even aware of,” Nogilana said.

Nogilana said the idea came out of a conversation with her colleagues about Ndara s success in the industry and how she presented her craft.

The conversation that led to the creation of the page, according to Nogilana, was held in the SABC s newsroom between colleagues who wished to see Ndara back on the soapie. We were talking about how well she used to play that character. I asked my colleagues, who are wellinformed about social networks, to ask their friends what they thought as viewers. So the following day, one of my male colleagues showed me a page he had created and I was impressed, Nogilana said.

She was adamant that they did not plan to taint Ndara s image and that the campaign was out of love from her fans

After hearing the rumour that Mamfundisi might be back on

I called the producers as a fan to find out, but was told they could not disclose anything at that particular moment,” she said. She said she regretted the whole scenario.

I am taking full responsibility for my actions and would like to apologise to Vatiswa, because we meant no harm at all.”

Ndara said: In view of the fact that she has tendered an apology, I have no reason not to accept it. I would most certainly believe there was no malice intended.”

The Bring Back Mamfundisi on new

page has been taken down on Facebook.
