TOP ACTOR IN MAGOSHA SCANDAL

- AUBREY MOTHOMBENI

FORMER Rhythm City actor and Big Brother Africa season six finalist Clayton “Luclay ” Misoya escaped jail time after settling out of court with a prostitute.

Misoya was reported to Norwood police station by a lady of the night for assault following a business transaction that went sour.

The woman told the police that she met Misoya at a pub in Norwood and they agreed on a deal to have sex in exchange for money but Misoya allegedly wanted to renege on the deal once they reached his pad.

She told the police that when she asked him to pay first, he pushed and slapped her.

Misoya was arrested on Tuesday morning but luckily for him, the complainant refused to write a statement so that he could be sent to the holding cells pending an appearance in court.

Norwood police spokeswoman Makoma Senyane confirmed the incident and said a case could not be registered.

The girl opted to get Luclay to pay her money instead of giving a statement so that the matter cannot be taken to court. We can confirm that he was arrested as a result of the lady’s claims that he assaulted her after she refused to have sex with him before paying, but he was later released,” Senyane said.

It is understood that the woman demanded R1 000 from the artist but he was broke and his friends managed to raise half of the “settlement ”.

Senyane confirmed that the woman was paid R500 by Misoya’s friends and also revealed that the woman told the police she met Misoya at a pub in Norwood where they agreed they were going to his apartment.

But to her shock, she said Misoya acted as if he did not know she was a lady of the night and when she asked him to pay before getting service, he grabbed her and started pushing her around,” Senyane said.

She added that Misoya, who was featured in Zahara’s Loliwe music video, told the police that he did nothing wrong and was not aware that the woman was a prostitute.

Misoya is best known for his role as drug lord Shane Sibaya in the SABC1 drama series Tshisa. His other TV credits include being Selimathunzi’s Cape Town presenter

and a role in Backstage. He has also acted on Interrogation Room, Generations , 7de Laan and Sokhulu and Partners among others. Misoya denied that the incident ever happened.

I don’t want to talk about any of this. I don’t know what happened, and I will appreciate it if we don’t have a conversation of this nature again,” Misoya said in his defence.
