DEMOTED SABC strongman Hlaudi Motsoeneng is allegedly embroiled in a fraud drama involving close to R1-million.

This comes after an unknown person used Motsoeneng s

’ credentials to apply for a bank card at an Absa branch and later withdrew more than R800 000 from the controversial broadcaster s

’ personal account in three days.

According to a police statement deposed by Motsoeneng at Muldersdrift police station in the west of Joburg, he only noted the fraudulent transactions when he got SMS notifications from the bank that a hefty cash withdrawal had just been made in his name.

Despite the case being registered in September last year, no one has been arrested in connection with the looting of Motsoeneng s funds.

’ The complainant then went to “Cradlestone Mall Absa bank to enquire... and the card was issued at Vanderbijlpark by the teller ... The transactions were made and I received notification on 2015-08-22 and 2015-08-24 and the transactions were effected with a fraudulent card and the amount of R812 870 86 [was withdrawn] ... The suspect is unknown, read the statement.

” Motsoeneng confirmed the case but said he could not comment further on the matter. The matter is still under “investigation and is being handled by my lawyers,” he said.

Muldersdrift police spokesman Matome Masedi said: We can

“confirm that a case of fraud was opened by Mr Motsoeneng and the matter has since been transferred to the commercial crimes unit for investigations.

” Masedi could not confirm the amount involved in the case and he referred further queries to the Hawks, who are said to be investigating the matter.

Motsoeneng was removed from his position as COO last month following a Supreme Court of Appeal judgment on his appointment. He was later appointed to a new position of group executive: corporate affairs by the SABC board, a move that was heavily criticised by opposition parties and parliament s portfolio

’ committee on communications.
