I READ the letter in Sunday World published on October 16 with the title Lesufi s method has failed ”,

“’ referring to Gauteng education MEC Panyaza Lesufi s online

’ school application system. I couldn t agree more.

’ I applied on April 18 for a place at a school for my son and on April 22 I submitted the required documents at the school I had chosen, which is close to my workplace. I was then told that I should follow up with the school if I hadn t received feedback by July

’ 25. I called the school on that day and was told that my online application had been deleted as the site (www.gdeadmissions.gov.za) had allegedly crashed on April 19 and that I should go to the school to fill an appeal form.

I went to the school and I was told that I had to appeal with the Gauteng district office. I went there and filled the form and was told that my child would be placed by the third week of September, maybe in another school. If I didn t

’ like the school the district had chosen then I could appeal that decision with the MEC s office.

’ It is now the third week of October and I m calling the district

’ office every day only to be told I should call a certain individual who is in charge of placing kids at the school I had chosen. This individual told me the school was full but he would revert to me by Friday, October 14 and still nothing.

This is so unfair, as I did everything right and on time. But I swear I will sue that Lesufi and his office, if January comes and my son doesn t have a school.
