More vacancies are lost than created in South Africa

-

The government has expressed concern that the rate at which the South African economy creates jobs remains slower than the rate the country sheds jobs. This comes after figures released by Statistics SA in the Q4 Quarterly Labour Force Survey (QLFS) revealed that the country’s unemployment rate was at 32.5%.

Acting Minister in the Presidency Khumbudzo Ntshavheni said the QLFS continues to remind the country of the challenge of unemployment. According to the report, employment in quarter four increased by 333 000 jobs, with the formal sector contributing the largest (189 000 jobs) between October and December.

Lovely to hear that Sophie Ndaba is still happily married as we could not cope with another surname change. Ndaba is still the most significant, though.
