Blitzboks aim for gold in Tokyo
Injured Springbok Sevens Rugby player Mfundo Ndhlovu strongly believes his teamates will set the tone for the team to progress to the knockout rounds in their opening match at the Tokyo Olympic Games.
The SA men’s Sevens team is aiming for gold after being drawn in Pool C with Ireland, USA and Kenya.
The Blitzboks face debutants Ireland tomorrow.
Ndhlovu, who missed the trip to Japan because of an ankle injury, said the team intends to improve on its 2016 Rio Olympics achievement when it finished third five years ago.
“I’m sure we would definitelly improve on our 2016 results. Making it to the final would be a big accomplishment for us and winning gold is our main goal without putting pressure on ourselves,” said Ndhlovu.
