SA nominates UWC academic to lead ILO

South Africa has formally nominated Professor Mthunzi Perry-mason Mdwaba to run as the next director-general of the Internatio­nal Labour Organisati­on (ILO).

The election will take place in Geneva, Switzerlan­d, in March 2022.

Professor Mdwaba, who is currently adjunct associate professor of law at the University of Western Cape, said he is committed to the ILO ideals of decent work.

“My campaign for the ILO position will focus on my commitment to renew the organisati­on.
