Morena Ramoreboli, the former Bloemfontein Celtic assistant coach, has been earmarked to take over as head coach of South Africa’s Under-23 Olympic team.

The young coach broke onto the local scenes when he was coaching Maluti FET College and they knocked Orlando Pirates out of the Nedbank Cup in 2013.

Ramoreboli is now coaching in Botswana and has led Jwaneng Galaxy to qualify for the CAF Champions League group stages for the first time in the club’s history.

David Notoane coached the junior Bafana in the Olympics Games this year and it seems that he will now be focusing on his full-time job in the development ranks of Mamelodi Sundowns.

Recently, Ramoreboli put another feather in his cap when he was asked to take charge of Bafana Bafana in the Cosafa Cup in Gqeberha.

“We are looking at a number of options and the guys are growing in stature,” said a member of the Safa technical committee.

Previous SA Under-23 coaches include Shakes Mashaba, Conti Khubeka, Steve Komphela, Serame Letsoaka and Owen da Gama.
