Khaka joins women’s Proteas team

Women’s World Cup in New Zealand starts on March 4

Proteas women’s bowler Ayabonga Khaka has been included in the South African World Cup 15 women-strong squad after taking 5/26 in the second ODI against the West Indies at the Wanderers this week.

The 29-year-old Khaka has waited long for her feat and her best bowling figures were not until her 71st ODI, when on Tuesday she brilliantl­y took her first five-wicket haul.

Cricket South Africa announced the Proteas squad for the Women’s World Cup in New Zealand from March 4 to April 3 and Suné Luus will captain a squad that includes opening batter Lizelle Lee.
