Resolute Mbau: the new leading lady for season 2 of The Wife
Yours in gossip, fun and everything wild made her way to the launch of season two of the record-breaking telenovela
The Wife, at The Greenhouse in Sandton.
The show now stars Khanyi Mbau as Zandile the Resolute. Shwa got to watch the first two episodes of the new season and I must say it is going to be an interesting one this time as Mbau is now the leading lady for the season alongside Mondli Makhoba.
Not that Shwa was ever convinced of Mbau’s acting skills. Maybe she bought some talent in Dubai.
Who knows? Accuse Shwa of jealousy but whenever I see
Mbau coining it, I frown at the thought of seeing her former flame Mandla Mthembu selling spices in the Joburg CBD. Life is something else. Mbau rocked up in a blue suit with orange hair and sneakers, and she looked superb.
Back to the event. The red-carpet entrances were stunning as the guests and the cast of The Wife made their way into the venue.
Anele Mdoda looked exquisite in her pink and black dress, which she accessorised with black beads, and she was the MC for the day, which probably
tells you there were jokes here and there.
The girl is talented, no doubt about that. Shwa gets to understand why she mingles with the likes of Trevor Noah and Sizwe Dlhomo. Talent attracts talent.
Shwa also spotted a few familiar faces such as SK Khoza, who looked very calm and collected – too relaxed for a man accused of bashing women. Some people have no shame. Shwa got to see the wife of Bonko Khoza, who plays Mqhele, and she looked gorgeous.
Real Housewives of Durban star Laconco, who recently scored herself a partnership with Edgars, was also present but she looked as if she was going to fetch her son at day care – who in their right mind dresses up casually at a red-carpet event? For someone who almost made it as one of the country’s first ladies, her appearance was disappointing – even Queen
Elizabeth could do better. And for someone who just last week bashed Thobile on the show about her “grand entrance”, you really need to do better, girl. Zikhona Sodlaka, who plays the role of Mandisa, rocked up in a white outfit with a touch of yellow but it really didn’t cut it for me, it was practically see-through. Oh well, every event you go to you find Phil Mphela. We hope you’ve calmed down from that back-and-forth twar you had with Chris Excel.
Ican’t shake off the feeling that this time next year, I’ll be writing about papgeld stories, judging by the high pregnancy rate in celebvillle. To all those talented village girls out there prepare yourselves for the limelight, since almost everyone is going on maternity leave soon.
Seeing that Showmax couples are divorcing, I was inspired to put together this pregnancy special. I can’t say I did not to see Mrs Jones’s pending divorce coming. Remember when I asked how come she did not wish her man a happy Father’s Day? Next time believe Shwa as I got all the files.
I wonder if Minnie is going to shoot another docuseries called Divorcing Mr Jones – she
gave us Becoming Mrs Jones, after all. Talk about keeping up with the Joneses. And oh! Shwa is happy that Minnie’s divorce gave Slik Talk his voice back, or has the Cassper Nyovest money run out already?
• Speaking of separations, we saw the video of DJ Fresh and his soon-to-be ex-wife, but darlings there was no need for that video, it openly made things worse in the gossipers’ mind. Now we are asking ourselves what took you so long to announce the separation.

• Still on beauty and pregnancy, we hear Ayanda Thabethe is living like a princess. I’m sure when she prays to
God she counts her man as one of her blessings. Hun, I don’t blame you – a man who can buy you a house and a sports car while flying private is worth praying for. No wonder Ayanda moved on so quickly from her previous relationships, she is allergic to poverty. Oopsie!
• Social media is flooded with celebrities revealing their baby bumps. .Can they also do a baby daddy reveal? We are tired of playing the guessing game because some of these names include happilymarried rich men we know. To be safe, every bump must come with a baby daddy. Blue Mbombo, since you the lasted the longest without announcing, do you want to go first?
• We hear Mamkhize can’t wait to be a glam granny as she has been buying designer clothes for her upcoming grandchild. No doubt they gonna be the most stylish toddlers, but please don’t overdo it with designer brands. You don’t want kids looking like forex traders? Anyway, what do you feed Andile that makes him so fertile? He might outdo Jacob Zuma if he keeps scoring at this rate.
• Noni Gasa, rumours are swirling in the north that there is a bun in your expensive oven. If not true, post a crop top picture to prove the haters wrong. I’m sure that baby will be stunning.
