-

Dual-listed Pan African Resources said this week that it had secured five exploration licenses in northeastern Sudan.

The London and Joburglisted mining company said the licenses cover an area of almost 1 100km, and are valid for three years, with an option to renew for a further two years.

Sudan has emerged as the third largest gold-producing country after Ghana and South Africa, with 90 tonnes of gold produced in 2021.

Last year, the group announced the conditional acquisition of one of the last remaining large-scale gold tailings resources available in South Africa; the Blyvoor Gold’s tailings storage facility, Blyvoor assets.
