Columnist bemoans Aubameyang’s departure
Piers Morgan has once again expressed his anger over Arsenal allowing Pierre-emerick Aubameyang to leave after the star’s latest goal.
The Gabon striker scored his seventh in as many matches to fire Barcelona to victory at Galatasaray in the Europa League on Thursday.
Responding to a tweet confirming the news just 24 hours after his side had lost 2-0 at home to Liverpool, Arsenal supporter Morgan replied with a series of angry face emojis.
That comes just days after Aubameyang told Morgan that “everyone is happy now” after his “separation” from the Gunners. Fans were left stunned when Mikel Arteta sanctioned a deadline day free transfer for Aubameyang to Barcelona.
• Holders Chelsea have been drawn against record 13-time winners Real Madrid in the quarterfinals of the Uefa Champions League.
The English side defeated Real in the semifinals of last year’s competition en route to their second title. Laliga champions Atlético Madrid will meanwhile play last year’s runners-up and Premier League champions Manchester City.
The semi-final draw could either pair last year’s finalists together or see either a rematch of the 2014 and 2016 finals – when Real twice beat Atlético. The third quarterfinal match sees 2021 Uefa Europa League winners Villarreal take on 2020 Uefachampions League victors Bayern Munich.
The winner of that matchup will then play either Liverpool – six times Champions League winners – or Portuguese side
Benfica, who last won the European Cup in 1962.
The two-legged quarterfinals will take place on 5/6 and 12/13 April, before the semi-finals on 26/27 April and 3/4 May.
