Moments of gold in Vanderbijlpark

-

Opulence. Panache. Glamour. Shwa is running out of adjectives to describe the launch of Johnnie Walker Gold.

After driving almost an hour to a venue in Vanderbijlpark, we hopped onto a short boat cruise to the elegant Summerfell Vaal River Residence, a luxurious and picturesque venue that made the perfect setting for celebrities who wanted to mingle and explore chances to cheat on their better halves. Why don’t all celebrities go the open relationship route? Because wow – we see things out there. The high-end whiskey company outdid themselves as they hosted a bespoke brunch experience that brought together some of Mzansi’s most loved personalities and friends of the brand to celebrate their moments of success or, as the brand calls it, #moments of gold.

Though there was a big bunch of unknowns and social media influencers, the crowd was classy and understood the theme. Everyone was stylish.

• We love the butch-looking DJ Lesoul who is one of the ambassadors, and she played a hot set.

• Influencer Siya Bunny is also one of Johnnie’s angels. She looked like she was attending a bridal shower or gender reveal party in a pink tutu number. Girl! I hope you’re not pregnant under that gown as many celebs have been having sex without the rubber lately.

• We expected more from style icon Rich Mnisi but he gave us a black and gold two-piece sequin suit, which I’m sure cost two arms and an infant’s leg. He looked like he was ready to go out in the evening with the same outfit. But the boy got some serious leg game.

• Destruction Boyz Que DJ wore a vintage brown 1980s style suit, looking like one of the characters from the ’80s sitcom Mind Your Language. I wish he could put the same effort into his style that he does with his DJ set. The boy can play, and we missed that Durban gqom sound. Black Coffee’s alleged side was there. What’s her name? The influencer girl. Aah, there are so many alleged sides we can’t keep up any more.

• Influencer Mathapelo Khoza looked classy in a pink blazer dress. This girl always gets it. Wish you can offer some lessons for Laconco.

• Lungile Thabethe makes thick look sexy and stylish. We see her thriving; we just hope she gives us a little more drama than her bland sister Ayanda.

• Kamo Modisakeng also showed her amazingly beautiful visage. Yes Cassper, ‘visage’ is English that requires at least matric. What has Kamo been up to with her life besides looking good and dating rich?

• Anyway, enough with the gossip. We hope other brands learn from Johnnie Walker’s level of hosting; exclusive, classy, abundant, and just fabulous.

From one fabulous venue to another, Somizi’s highly anticipated love show on Moja Love finally launched last week. It is about people finding love, but the irony is that Mohale wants more money than love.

Simphiwe Majola, who is slowly looking like a long-lost Jackson brother, looked fabulous. I wish I could see Simphiwe when he is relaxed at home because he is always dressed up. Some of the contestants looked like they were picked up from Noord taxi rank. Nonetheless the show is entertaining, from what I saw from the screening.
