Last minute but unique ways to spoil your dad
It is time to make your father feel appreciated
You might have missed the whole constructive planning for Father’s Day because of your own reasons but that is not reason to let the day pass without making daddy feel special.
The time has finally come to celebrate the father who has contributed positively to your life, to make him feel appreciated and dearly loved.
Here are a few memorable last-minute things to indulge on for a special dad – even after the day has passed:
1. DIY GIFT CARDS OR PERSONALISED BOOK
Reminiscing on the good old days is always a great idea and what better way than to remind daddy of the times you came back with a “happy Father’s Day” card that a teacher helped you put together! You can create a superhero book in which dad is featured as a superhero or create a photo book with messages filled with appreciation.
2. SET HIS MUSIC FREE
If your daddy is an old-timer who enjoyed his music from CDS, he is probably sad that some of his favourites are scratched, and he cannot get them anywhere since the CD business is slowly shutting down. It is time to reignite his love for his favourite artist by subscribing him to online music platforms and spend the day enjoying his smokey jazz numbers and smooth R&B.
3. LUNCH OR DINNER DATE
Restaurants are offering discounts and buffet meals to celebrate dads. Punchinello’s restaurant in Fourways is offering a lunch table from 1pm to 4pm at R450 a person and R200 for children under 12. Ramiki in Roodepoort offers lunch on the lawn for R395 a person – or just cook daddy’s favourite meal at home.
4. BRAAI MATERIALS
It would be great to gift daddy a brand new set of braai materials he can flaunt at his next braai with friends.
5. ADVENTURE
The Johannesburg Zoo is hosting the Zoo Trot today. The event has been advertised for R65 a person and the run starts at 7.30am, or spoil daddy with a day of thrills at the Gold Reef City Theme Park. The day can be finished off with some casino games just down the road.
6. PLAYING
Pops might be wanting to feel lively and be away from the dayto-day life. You can probably have a beer drinking challenge or make the environment more child-friendly by playing board games or playing hide and seek.
7. TV GAMES
“Boys will always be boys,” as the saying goes, so get daddy that TV game. This is something that will remind him of you even when he is launching a game with friends and probably give him luck to win each game.
