Germany commits R6.2bn to National Treasury
The National Treasury has secured a R6.2-billion commitment from German authorities to fund just transition towards climate neutrality in South Africa.
“Negotiations on South African-german development cooperation took place on Wednesday in Pretoria,” the Treasury said in a statement.
“The German delegation was headed by Birgit Pickel, director-general Africa at the German ministry for economic cooperation and development, and included the GIZ and KFW.”
The South African delegation was headed by representatives from the National Treasury.
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz visited South Africa this year as the two countries cemented economic ties.
