Scopa slams Treasury’s delay of annual report
The National Treasury didn’t cover itself in glory before the legislators on Tuesday after it failed to submit its 2021/22 annual report to parliament by the September 30 deadline.
It tried to explain to legislators that the delay was because annual statements were yet to be tabled after it lodged a dispute over the audit finding made by Auditor-general Tsakani Maluleke.
Members of the standing committee on public accounts (Scopa) didn’t buy the explanation. Chairperson Mkhuleko Hlengwa said the Treasury was held to a higher standard as a custodian of the Public Finance Management Act.
