DJ Amenisto’s Sunday session a tad too popular

-

After one of the most momentous weekends in South African history following the coronation of the Zulu King, His Majesty King Misuzulu at the iconic Moses Mabhida Stadium, Shwa decided to honour an invite to Esikhaleni township on Sunday.

The place is previously known as Esikhawini, near Empangeni, and the venue is called Engadini Lifestyle, and is famous among the people of H2 Section.

The last time I visited the place was in 2016, when Engadini Lifestyle was being launched.

Fast forward to 2022, the venue has gone through so much transformation it’s unbelievable, and its Sunday sessions are popularly known among all in KZN as Kumnandi Sundays Sessions.

The owner, DJ Amenisto, is a businessman, music producer of gqom and Afro soulhouse, and has worked with Big Nuz and DJ Tira.

DJ Amenisto has done well for himself. The place was packed to capacity, unfortunately with little space to move around. Yours in gossip even lost moi’s cellphone.

What made matters worse, the sound of gqom and Afro soul-house was not gentle on the eardrum, and it kept everyone on their feet, dancing to popular tunes.

DJ Amenisto, if you want us, the mature, to frequent your place, better restrict the entry of the 2000s frequenting your place. They were so rowdy. I hear most of them are students at the local Umfolozi College. Whew! What a raucous lot.

It’s wonderful to see DJ Amenisto teaming

up with another wellknown producer in DJ Makokorosh.

I know DJ Makokorosh from our high school days and he’s been hustling and striving to get a break in the entertainment industry.

We had surprise guests, Durban-based award-winning rapper Zakwe along with another rapper and friend Mzulu. They looked chilled and from their facial expression, it seemed they were coming from an event around the North Coast. Please, give it to Deepot and Donkutsa; the pair brought the house down with its deep soul sets. I had to go and rest as I had not slept since Saturday after the Kaizer Chiefs’ Yusuf Maart’s splendid winning goal over Orlando Pirates in the Soweto derby.
