Sita picks Mabaso to head up agency

The State Informatio­n Technology Agency (Sita) has appointed Bongani Mabaso as its CEO. He joins Sita from Standard Bank, where he was the chief informatio­n officer for digital and customer journeys.

Mabaso began his career at Transnet, where he spent nearly 12 years in various roles. Mabaso has a multidisci­plinary PHD in philosophy and computer science with a focus on computatio­nal ethics from the University of Pretoria.

• Hyprop Investment­s has appointed Bernadette Mzobe, who serves on its board as a non-executive director, as chairperso­n of its social and ethics committee. Mzobe is the MD of Intuit Infrastruc­ture Advisers and was previously CEO of Rokwil Group, a property developmen­t company based in Kwazulu-natal. In addition, she previously held positions in the real estate divisions of Standard Bank, Ithala and Investec.

•Italtile has appointed Alex Mathole, who serves on its board as a non-executive director, as a member of its social and ethics committee and its remunerati­on committee with effect from January 1 2023. Mathole is currently the MD and founder of Justings Advisory, a business that provides regulatory and risk management advisory services.

•FNB has appointed Lytania Johnson as the CEO of FNB’S personal banking segment and Sizwe Nxedlana as the CEO of its private segment. Both appointmen­ts are effective from January 1 2023.

Johnson was previously FNB South Africa’s chief risk officer and has worked in various roles with the Firstrand group since January 2008. Nxedlana was previously CEOOF FNB Wealth and Investment­s. He was also CEO of Ashburton Investment­s.

Johnson and Nxedlana have worked at FNB for 16 and 14 years, respective­ly.

• Absa recently announced the appointmen­t of three group executives, with effect from January 1 2023. The bank has appointed Jeanett Modise as its chief people officer and Johnson Idesoh as its chief informatio­n and technology officer.

The bank said Idesoh was featured in the Global CIO 100 for 2022.

The bank has also appointed Sydney Mbhele as its chief brand, marketing and corporate affairs officer.
