Sporting festive messages

One message is central: do not drink and drive

- By Tiyani wa ka Mabasa and Kgomotso Mokoena

The festive season is a time of giving and people will be spending time with their families and loved ones. This is how some of SA’S sports personalities will be spending the festive break.

Junior Khanye, football analyst

I will be spending a lot of time with my kids and we will be attending the Daveyton off-season tournament Imbewu Enhle because my team is taking part. My message to the people is that they must drink responsibly because we do not want to lose our friends and families through drinking and driving. Have a safe Christmas.

Mike Makaab, football agent

I am blessed to be able to spend my Christmas with my family, including my five grandchildren. I cannot ask for more. To all those out there, may God bless you over the festive season and may his divine grace protect you as we move into a new year.

Lucky Lekgwathi, former Orlando Pirates captain

I want to urge the people of South Africa to enjoy themselves in a responsible manner and for them to stay safe and not overdo their celebrations. Please do not drink and drive, and please spend your money wisely because children are going to school in January.

Willard Katsande, Sekhukhune United brand ambassador

My Christmas will be a good time to relax with family. It’s time to give gifts to family and I’ve got a special message to all our readers: please when you drive, don’t drink.

Victor Hlungwani, former PSL referee

I will be going home to Giyani to be with my family. The whole family will be at Mninginisi village where I bought a lamb for the Christmas celebration. My tournament, Zama Zama Sports Challenge will take most of my time as I have to watch most of the games to check talented referees and players to recommend for scouts that will be coming.

Quintin Jettoo, Maritzburg United operations manager

Christmas this year is a bit tough as for the first time we will be playing our opening match on December 30, so I guess it will just be quiet time with the family and back to work on Boxing Day.
