BIG Brother Mzansi contestant Thandokazi Hlwatika allegedly jumped the queue to grab a spot inside the house.
It has come to light that Hlwatika was an employee of the agency that handled the Big Brother Mzansi public relations account at the time of the reality show’s Joburg auditions.
The 23-year-old resigned only after she was accepted into the house.
A company insider who did not want to be named told Sunday World that Hlwatika went against the agency s competition policy.
The policy states that agency personnel are not allowed to enter [our client] competitions as it is conflict of interest.
How is it possible that she was chosen as one of the contestants? Ogilvy employees and their family members may not participate in the promotion where clients are concerned,” said the insider.
The source added that Hlwatika didn’t truthfully disclose her reason for her resignation.
Thando said she was going overseas to teach.”
Ogilvy & Mather spokeswoman Ivana Naidoo confirmed that Hlwatika was employed at the company when she entered the competition.
Despite the fact that the Big Brother contestant was an agency employee, Naidoo dismissed the issue.
Thando was not involved on the MultiChoice account,” was all she would say.
MultiChoice spokeswoman Nomphelo Ndzimela said the rules were clear that people who were employed by or related to Big Brother SA production company Endemol, MultiChoice or any of the MIH Group of companies, were not allowed to enter any of their competitions.
Ndzimela said Hlwatika did nothing wrong in terms of MultiChoice s competition rules.
Ogilvy and MultiChoice are separate, and because of that, Thando wasn t prevented from participating.
Hlwatika is still in the house after escaping possible eviction last week.
