Architect's role, private sector graft glossed over in report

Sunday World - - Opinion -

PUBLIC Protector Thuli Madonsela’s Nkandla report uncovered one dodgy character by the name of architect Minenhle Makhanya, who unduly benefited from the project by adding unnecessary buildings that have nothing to do with the president’s security.

Why didn’t she make recommendations about what must happen to him? It’s clear he played a role in defrauding the state.

Her focus on the government and on President Jacob Zuma makes this report more political than anything else. But how does one explain inflating prices to R246-million without any corruption from the private sector? Sizwe Mthembu Malelane
