OUR charmza this week is Pub­lic Pro­tec­tor Thuli Madon­sela again, for stick­ing to her guns in the face of mount­ing an­i­mos­ity to­wards her. She has re­li­gious people, lawyers, the ANC and other cra­zies at­tack­ing her.

Fred­er­ick Dou­glass once said: “Those who pro­fess to fa­vor free­dom and yet dep­re­cate ag­i­ta­tion, are men who want crops with­out plow­ing up the ground, they want rain with­out thun­der and light­ning.”

Madon­sela ’ s of­fice is an im­por­tant pil­lar of our democ­racy, and all of us have to guard that jeal­ously.
