Key players in clash

-

SOUTH AFRICA Itumeleng Khune (goalkeeper)

Not only does Mzansi’s number one provide cover, but his ball distribution is second to none. Depending on how the Bafana attackers position themselves, they could benefit a lot from the Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper.

Percy Tau (striker)

In the absence of Nigeria’s number one Francis Uzoho, who’s out because of injury, it could be Tau’s chance to get on the scoresheet. He’d probably come up against Chippa United’s Daniel Akpeyi and with all due respect, he’s often been beaten in the PSL.

NIGERIA Odion Ighalo (striker)

In Nigeria’s last two games, both against Libya, he fired in five goals, which is a clear demonstration of his ability in front of goals. Ighalo is also in fine form at club level with 21 goals in 28 games for Chinese Super League side Changchun Yatai. Bafana defenders cannot afford to lose concentration at any stage of the match.

Ahmed Musa (striker)

Playing alongside Ighalo would be Ahmed Musa, who’s also a handful on his day. He’s the only Nigerian to score in two World Cups (2014 and 2018). – Tiyani wa ka Mabasa
