New year a chance for fresh start

Sunday World - - Viewpoint -

Alot of our current political and economic woes in South Africa can be traced back to the Jacob Zuma years, where his presidency was characterised by many in the ruling party engaging in rampant acts of corruption and fruitless expenditure with no one being held accountable for their actions.

We have to contend with load-shedding and high petrol prices as a daily reality and it will take a miracle to turn our economy around.

The new year is another opportunity for voters to punish or reward politicians in our upcoming general election. Once again voters will be given the opportunity to choose the leaders who should put their needs first.

The new year ushers in hope for citizens to take back their power via the ballot.
