Ndlambe Local Football Association league logs

- TK MTIKI

THE Ndlambe Local Football Association league has gone almost unnoticed since it began in January.

With the league approaching its end and the majority of teams left with 13 games to play, Talk of the Town, presents an overview of the log standings so far. The league has a total of 14 participating teams.

The best team of the season with the highest number of points will be promoted to the Castle League where most professional players are scouted from. This local league might be a stepping stone to greater opportunities for young talented players. Siyanda Faltein, who plays for Majjaga Stars, is living testimony of this. On April 27 he received a call from Ke Yona Team recruiters (Nedbank Team) requesting him to submit his details for the possibility of playing for Ke Yona Team. He now has the opportunity of convincing professional coaches that he is capable of playing for a team that will compete with one of Absa Premiership teams next season.

Majjaga Stars is a prominent contenders for the league title and remained in second position after weekend results with a game in hand. Majjaga Stars defeated Young Ideas 3-1 in a must- win game over the weekend. Having played 17 games, Majjaga Stars has managed to accumulate 44 points from these games and are one point behind league leaders Mighty Forest.

Arrows are in third position with 35 points, Paubs is in fourth position with 34 points, Romans in fifth spot with 32 points, City XI are sixth with 28 points, and Young Chiefs are seventh on 25 points. Other teams include Young Ideas in eighth with 25 points, Baroka FC in ninth with 24 points, Eleven Masters are 10th with 18 points, Dangerous Bucks sit 11th with 15 points. Tokyo City are battling it out in 12th position with 13 points, Cosmos is struggling in 13th spot on six points and relegation-threatened Black Aces are 14th.
