THERE was a break-in at a business premises in Hallier Street where the alarm went off at about 4.30am on Friday morning.

After checking the premises Multi-Security response officers found the perpetrato­r had tried to force open the front security door with an iron bar. Nothing was taken. A knife was found on a footpath leading to another business and the iron bar was still lying by the damaged garage door. A case was opened.

A store on Campbell Street was robbed on Friday at around midday. The alarm went off when a man entered the shop, stole goods and ran off. The suspect was wearing a black Adidas top, black jeans and Adidas takkies.

There was a break-in on Biscay Road on Friday night just before midnight when the alarm went off. At 11.49pm the Multi-Security Control Room received a panic from the premises. Police and response officers attended. Stolen items included two laptops, two torches, a Samsung cellphone, a pair of new takkies and a pair of boots. Burglars gained entry by the kitchen window which was slightly ajar and broke the burglar bar. The dogs alerted the owner. A case was opened.

Monday morning saw a number of incidents including break-ins and attempted break-ins. A panic alarm went off at Periwinkle Close at 2.30am and response officers checked the premises along with SAPS officers as there had been a break in at the premises. The perpetrato­r forced open the bathroom window to gain entry. The resident surprised the criminal who fled the premises. Nothing was taken.

On Saturday, there was another break in on Stewart Road when, at 10.15pm, a call was logged requesting SAPS. Response officers reported the perpetrato­r(s) gained entry by the kitchen door that was not locked. It was also reported that the alarm was not armed as the client was visiting neighbours next door. The burglar stole two cellphones, a laptop and a briefcase containing only a worthless document. Officers reported they found footmarks by the wall in Stewart Road where the suspect entered and exited the yard. A case was opened.

An incident at Green Fountain Farm was reported on Monday regarding a vehicle accident close to the farm.

Also on Monday, at 9.38am, a call from Hi-Tec Security requested SAPS attend to the Port Alfred Hospital. It was reported that the EFF was protesting on the premises.
