More precious than gold
THE internet has opened an unending source of literature that covers every subject thinkable.
Obviously, the value of each book or article differs widely.
The contents of one Book though is “more precious than gold, than much pure gold; they are sweeter than honey, than honey from the comb” (Psalm 19:10). This Book is known as the Bible. The Bible is an ancient book, consisting of 66 different books and written by approximately 40 different authors over a period of hundreds of years.
Yet, its contents are not bound by time or custom and is therefore very applicable even to our present post-modernistic society.
Verse 11 of the same Psalm says, “By them is your servant warned; in keeping them there is great reward.”
The quality of life on earth would be so enhanced if only we would heed the Bible’s warnings. That these were given to rob us of our freedom and joy is a misconception indeed!
What we really need to take cognisance of is that the Bible teaches that we will be held accountable to God one day for the life we have lived down here on earth. Judgement will be just and fair, but will have eternal consequences.
Fortunately, the Bible does not only warn us of the impending judgement, but reveals the way of forgiveness and acquittal.
“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 6:23).
The reward for obedience is far beyond the scope of this article.
Suffice it to say . . . the deeper we delve into the Word of God, the greater the treasure we discover. The Bible is still the best-selling book ever written… try it out yourself.
