Kowie United run ram­pant against ri­vals Lilly Whites

It was a bumper Satur­day for Kowie United Rugby Club when both their first and sec­ond teams won their matches against Lilly Whites from Gra­ham­stown.

Play­ing at the Sta­tion Hill sta­dium, Kowie United’s first team gave their op­po­nents a thrash­ing, win­ning 60-14, while their sec­ond team won 29-24.

In the first team match against Lilly Whites, Kowie United scored a flood of tries, quickly si­lenc­ing the vis­it­ing team’s fans. Bradley Marais and Devon Ruiters both scored two tries. Other play­ers who added to the score Died­er­icks – all shar­ing one try un­der their names.

Lead­ing the way in con­vert­ing those tries was Ma­son Brooks, with four con­ver­sions and one penalty. Zen­o­van Den­ston, also put his name up in lights by scor­ing two con­ver­sions.

Kowie United will be in­volved in a high-stakes game to main­tain their win­ning record on Satur­day, when they play Old Col­le­gians in Gra­ham­stown in the fi­nals of the league. The pres­i­dent of the club, Lis­ton Hilpert, ap­plauded the teams’ suc­cess, and thanked BUCO Port
